For Latrobe Apartment Homes
I've been in DC for a decade and this is the best apartment I've ever had. The Latrobe is convenient, comfy luxury less than a block to Whole Foods on P Street and straddling the DuPont and Logan Circle areas. It's steps from some of DC's best food and bar scenes, like Le Diplomate, Barcelona, El Centro, etc. There are three Metro stops nearby, each only a 10-minute walk away. All units are wired for Comcast Xfinity, with central A/C and washer/dryers, plus there's a 24-hour concierge, free coffee, and solid gold toilets (ok, not really). There's also a pretty decent gym in the building and a rooftop deck with breathtaking 360 views of the city's skyline. I cannot recommend the Latrobe enough!

I've really enjoyed living at the Latrobe. The staff is very friendly and the apartments are nice. I live in a one bedroom apartment.

My experience with the Latrobe and its management, AIMCO, was horrible. They are untrustworthy and do not treat tenants with respect. I will never again consider living in the Latrobe or any AIMCO-managed building, and I strongly urge anyone who is considering renting at the Latrobe: DO NOT RENT HERE. In short, I signed a lease, paid a deposit nearly 2 months in advance, paid first month’s rent, and then 2 days before the start of my lease, when I called to ask about move-in time, was told my apartment was no longer available. I toured the building and applied for a 1-bedroom in early July for a unit that would be available on Sep. 1. I e-signed the agreement, and paid the $500 “holding fee” and received a “welcome” email, as well as a confirmation email with all of my “lease details”. On Aug. 30, 2 days before the start of my lease, I called to ask what time I could pick up my key and to work out the move-in details. I had movers and furniture on the way to Washington. It was at this point that I was first told by the Latrobe that the previous tenants had just re-signed their lease, and that the apartment was no longer available for me. This was 2 DAYS BEFORE MY MOVE IN and the Latrobe DID NOT EVEN CALL ME TO TELL ME. This was also despite the fact that I had already SIGNED THE LEASE, had PAID THE “HOLDING FEE” and had PAID THE FIRST MONTH’S RENT. (A Latrobe rep later claimed they tried to contact me the day before to tell me the apartment was no longer available; I have triple checked my phone and email records and have no record of any contact). It is unacceptable to ignore a signed lease agreement, allow the existing tenants to re-sign the lease 2 days before the lease expires and NOT TELL THE NEW TENANT. To summarize, my experience with the Latrobe was terrible from start to finish. The Latrobe and its parent organization, AIMCO, were rude and disrespectful and, based on my dealings with them, are not trustworthy. My advice to anyone considering renting at the Latrobe or another AIMCO-managed building: don’t do it. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Hello, I'm terribly sorry about this. The original renters did indeed elect to extend their lease and therefore the unit was taken off the market. However, you did not sign a lease with us (only an application) and Tahrima did reach out to you and left a voicemail and send an email. I am again very sorry about this mix up, but we do have many options available if you're ever considering an apartment at Latrobe again. Have a great day! -George
