Apartment: Great. Neighborhood: Not so much.

I love this apartment complex. My apartment is beautiful and spacious. The amenities (pool, rooftop furniture, 2-story gym, bike locker, etc.) are amazing. The concierges are always so nice and greet me by name. There are so many public transit options available within a few blocks (Red, Green, and Yellow lines; multiple bus routes; Capital Bikeshare) that make it easy to get around The District. There are some ZipCars just on the street that make it easy to get out of the District. All in all, the apartment is quality. Although I love the apartment complex, I don't love the neighborhood, or should I say, lack thereof. Unless you like being neighbors with several parking lots and the Government Printing Office, the neighborhood leaves something to be desired. This area is the definition of "Up & Coming." Every place has its trade off, I suppose.

Best Location in the City!

77H Apartments has it all; 2 pools, a 2 story gym, a Walmart downstairs (yes you can bring your cart right up to your door) capital bike share right out side, Union Station 2 blocks away, Chinatown 2 1/2 blocks away, H street NE (an up and coming bar district) 1 block away, the national mall 3 blocks away (I run around the U.S. capitol buildings every day), an accessible parking garage, 3 separate bar and seating areas, a game room with pool, Foosball, and mini shuffle board. This apartment building has great employees. The leasing office, front desk, and maintenance teams are very friendly and have your happiness in mind. Some downers in the area; there is a retirement home just up the street, a homeless shelter around the corner, public housing across the street, and Georgetown Law School on the opposite corner. All of these darn college kids and elderly folks run amok of the area.... (JK) There are no downers about this area or apartment building. Parking is expensive but it is worth it. (DC parking laws are insane) If you can get into this building do it because it will be worth it.

Great place

Love it inside and it has great amenities. The location is terrible. I would move for the sole reason it's in a bad area and feels "in the middle of no where" in DC.

Great Location and Amenities

Location: The apartment is convenient and located within walking distance to union station (probably a 5-10 minute walk) and bus lines (all within a two-block radius) that go through all parts of DC -- If you're someone who appreciates being the city but also not being near where the busy foot traffic happens, then this apartment is a good balance between the two. Shopping/Stores: Located next to a wal-mart (open til 12 midnight), a starbucks, dry-cleaning, and a chicken restaurant. Stores are pretty satisfying for your daily needs. Other stores (predominantly near Chinatown Area -- this place is located along H and 1st street NW, Chinatown is H and 7 street NW) are within walking distance and should be accessible without having the need to drive / take public transportation. Scene/Safety: The place does not get a lot of traffic except for those that go to Walmart. From the last year and a half that I lived in the building, I haven't seen any disturbances aside from the occasional homeless individuals (which is part of every city). With that said, the apartment does have a 24-hour concierge so the building is "secure", but there is no roaming security (except when wal-mart is open). Space: The space itself is pretty sizeable for a DC apartment. The appliances are all brand-new and it's especially convenient to have in-unit washer/dryer. The walls are a bit thin though; hence, you're most likely to hear your neighbors if a loud TV or radio is playing. They've also had some issues with ventilation lately (with vents from the chicken restaurant / wal-mart coming into the building), but management promised this will be resolved soon. Amenities: Amenities are good as well -- gym, lounges, courtyard, and rooftop grill / pool. For those who own pets, the courtyards are off-limits (so you would probably have to walk your dog outside the building). The pool is not as big compared to the other apartment complexes around town (people have described it as the size of two hot tubs / jacuzzi) although the waning pool is a nice addition. Management: There's been a high turnover rate within management (at least from the last year and a half). They are somewhat responsive to requests and comments about the apartment in general (would probably rate them a 3/5). The maintenance group is top-notch though -- fixes everything within 24 hours!!
